Official WebsiteCapella Kyoto marks the first Capella Hotels & Resorts property in Japan, opened March 22, 2026. The 89-key hotel reimagines Kyoto's traditional machiya (townhouse) typology in the city's historic Miyagawa-cho kagai (geisha district), steps from Kenninji temple and the Kamo river. Designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates with Singapore-based Brewin Design Office, the building reinterprets Kyoto's characteristic spatial composition — layered sequences of narrow alleys, hidden gardens, and interior thresholds. Room types span Deluxe City Rooms, Premier Theatre Rooms, two Gion Suites with direct Kenninji temple views, six Onsen Suites with private hot spring baths, and the 206-sqm top-floor Capella Suite.
