Songtei Kyoto, Shangri-La Signatures

Songtei Kyoto, Shangri-La Signatures sits on the former residence of the Kyoto Shoshidai, directly opposite the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nijo Castle, with rooms framing the castle's Kita Ote-mon (Great North Gate) and gardens. The 77 rooms and suites reinterpret Kyoto's Edo-period residences through a contemporary lens. Facilities include a wellness sanctuary with a private spa, indoor and outdoor hot baths, an indoor pool and gym, an all-day dining lounge, a Chinese fine dining restaurant, a kappo-sushi counter and an evening bar. It is the second Shangri-La Signatures property after The Silk Lakehouse in Hangzhou. First guests are expected in late 2026, with the full property unveiled in early 2027 as facilities open progressively. The name pairs "Song" (pine, a symbol of longevity) with "Tei" (a sense of home).
