The Fairmont Manchester San Diego is a 36-storey glass hotel tower on the North Embarcadero of San Diego Bay, forming the hospitality anchor of Manchester Pacific Gateway, Manchester Financial Group's redevelopment of the downtown waterfront. Gensler serves as both architect and interior designer, working an Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern vocabulary into an all-glass facade warmed by bronze accents. The programme runs to roughly 1,160 guestrooms including 69 suites and a Fairmont Gold hotel-within-a-hotel tier with its own lounge and private reception. Meeting and event space exceeds 120,000 square feet indoors and out, built around two 20,000-square-foot ballrooms aimed at the convention trade. Guest amenities include six dining venues led by a 160-seat signature restaurant, a luxury spa and fitness complex, and a rooftop pool. The site sits directly across from the USS Midway Museum and next to the cruise ship terminal, within walking distance of both the convention center and the Gaslamp Quarter.
