Kinara, A Luxury Safari Camp

Kinara, A Luxury Safari Camp is open inside Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve, an independent 21-suite tented camp elevated above a bend in the Mara River. The camp holds 19 one-bedroom suites, one two-bedroom family suite and one three-bedroom signature villa, each with a private temperature-controlled pool. Artichoke Interior Design and Black Sable Architects transformed the camp from an existing safari lodge using reclaimed and locally sourced materials, with interiors by South African designer Caline Williams-Wynn of Artichoke built around custom textiles, handcrafted tiles, rattan, carved wooden wall paneling and leather goods made with local artisans. The Maasai shield is the recurring motif, shaping the suite entrance doors. Dining runs across Asili, the signature restaurant overlooking the Mara River, and Under the Acacia, with a bar, wood-fired pizza oven and small plates. The Olgilai Wellness Spa uses Organic Savanna products from Laikipia, Kenya, with a hydrotherapy area holding a steam room, sauna and salt bath. The camp also has a Discovery Lounge, a hippo observation deck and two fire pits. SARV Management LLC operates Kinara, which works with CER-K and The Maa Trust on ecosystem restoration and community-led development. Access is via the Mara Ol Kiombo or Musiara airstrips with private road transfers.
