Optima McDowell Mountain

Optima McDowell Mountain is a roughly $1 billion luxury residential community spread across 22 acres at the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and the Loop 101 in North Scottsdale, Arizona. Developed and designed in house by Optima, the Chicago and Scottsdale firm led by architects David Hovey Sr. and David Hovey Jr., the master plan comprises six eight-story buildings totaling 1,330 rental apartments and for-sale condominiums, anchored by Tower 7220, a 210-residence rental building, and 7230, a 196-residence condominium tower. Optima's signature biophilic architecture wraps each building in floor-to-ceiling glass and private terraces planted with native desert landscaping through a vertical landscape system, while roughly 75 percent of the site is preserved as open space and served by what Optima describes as the largest private rainwater harvesting system in the United States. Residences offer nine to ten foot ceilings, smart-home technology, granite countertops and frameless showers. The amenity program rivals a private club, with a 50-meter Olympic pool and rooftop deck, a rooftop running track, a state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, a basketball court, an outdoor putting and chipping green, a golf simulator lounge and fire pit terraces. Roughly 36,000 square feet of retail and dining complete the community, placing it steps from Scottsdale's Perimeter Center and the One Scottsdale district.
