University of Tennessee Student Success Center
UT Knoxville's Student Success Center replaces Melrose Hall, the 1948 men's dormitory taken out of service in 2009, at the center of campus between John C. Hodges Library and Hess Hall, fronting the Johnson-Ward Pedestrian Walkway.

Designed by Nashville-based Hastings Architecture with Lord Aeck Sargent and built by Hoar Construction, the $108 million building rises five stories with one level below grade across roughly 119,000 square feet, with a green roof, large windows for natural light and an adjacent mass timber pavilion, the first use of mass timber on the UT campus. The building gathers the Division of Student Success under one roof: the Academic Success Center, University Honors and First-Year Experience, the Veterans Success Center and Veteran Benefits Administration, the Vol Study Center, UT Success Academy, Student Disability Services and Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. Inside are two 300-seat auditoriums, two 150-seat tiered classrooms, multiuse classrooms, testing rooms, student lounges and a student commons.
