Ensign House is a soaring 56-storey residential landmark rising to roughly 225 metres at South Quay on the Isle of Dogs, steps from the Canary Wharf financial district. Designed by Maccreanor Lavington for developer Far East Consortium, the tower replaces a 1980s office block with an unmistakable silhouette: an Art Deco-influenced bronze-toned shaft drawing on the romance of early-twentieth-century skyscrapers, capped by a tapering, illuminated spire crown that reads dramatically across the East London skyline. Inside, the building delivers around 500 homes ranging from compact apartments to a crowning penthouse, served by residents' amenities and elevated views over the docks, the river and the City beyond. As one of the tallest residential buildings in the South Quay cluster, it adds a sculptural, period-inflected counterpoint to the glass towers of the surrounding Docklands.
