Plaza Athenee Bangkok, The Riverside

Asset World Corporation is redeveloping its River Garden property on the Chao Phraya into an 18-story, 146-room ultra-luxury hotel planned to carry the Plaza Athenee name, on the Bang Kho Laem stretch of Charoen Krung Road. The scheme replaces the existing riverside building on the site. Renderings show a classical riverfront block stepping back at the crown above a glassed podium, its balconies and awnings facing the water and the old Customs House quarter across the bend. The property forms part of AWC's Riverside Journey, a program linking eleven destinations along the river that includes Asiatique The Riverfront, the planned MONA Bangkok, a cross-river cable car and a planned Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside. The investment is put at roughly 2.9 billion Thai baht.
