Sand Valley
Sand Valley is the founding course of the Nekoosa resort of the same name, laid out by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw across a vast expanse of glacial sand left behind by a prehistoric lake.
Sand Valley is the founding course of the Nekoosa resort of the same name, laid out by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw across a vast expanse of glacial sand left behind by a prehistoric lake. Set on rumpled, wind-blown ridges cloaked in red pine and native fescue, the routing plays firm and fast in the inland-links tradition, with wide sandy fairways, exposed blowouts, and enormous, boldly contoured greens that reward the running shot and the imaginative angle. The walking-only design threads through and over natural dunescape rather than moving earth to create it, celebrating the raw sand-country terrain that first drew the Keiser family to this corner of Wisconsin. Broad corridors invite aggressive play off the tee, but subtle tilt, deep bunkering, and greens that shed the timid approach keep the strategic tension high from the opening drive to the closing green.
