The Carter Building is a A$300 million mixed-use tower on Melbourne's St Kilda Road boulevard, pairing a five-star hotel with a small collection of private residences above it. Kerry Hill Architects designed both the building and its interiors, working a bluestone facade that answers the nearby National Gallery of Victoria, Victoria Barracks and Melbourne Grammar School. The hotel occupies the lower nine levels and is operated by COMO Hotels and Resorts, bringing a COMO Shambhala wellness floor, a 20-metre lap pool, fitness centre, restaurant, cafe and bar. Fifty-four residences of two, three and four bedrooms sit above, including two penthouses, with residents given access to the hotel's services. The site sits a short walk from Anzac Station and several tram lines, on the approach between the Shrine of Remembrance and the city.
