The Hoxton Melbourne is the British hotel brand's first property in Australia, landing in Cremorne, the small inner-suburban pocket east of the Yarra that has become the city's technology and creative district. The hotel rises above the former Bryant and May match factory, a heritage industrial complex being converted into the Matchworks mixed-use business village, and takes the anchor position within it. Its 198 rooms follow the brand's familiar Cosy, Roomy and Biggy categories, and the building carries three food and beverage venues, an all-day dining room, a cafe and bar, and a signature restaurant. The hotel also includes The Apartment, the brand's hybrid meeting and event format built around a communal pantry, plus a gym. Interiors draw on the site's industrial history and on the surrounding creative community, in keeping with the brand's open-lobby, locally programmed approach.
