WestK Performing Arts Centre

The WestK Performing Arts Centre rejects the opaque "black-box" model for a stacked, transparent volume designed so audiences see and are seen, making performance visibly part of public life. A curving figure-eight route called the Central Spine threads visitors from the harbourfront up to Artist Square, opening sightlines between foyers, rehearsal rooms and a rooftop terrace. Three auditoria — a 1,450-seat lyric theatre, a 600-seat medium theatre and a 270-seat studio theatre — sit alongside eight dance and rehearsal studios, a resident-company centre, and dining and retail. Adjacent to M+ in the West Kowloon Cultural District, it is conceived as Hong Kong's first world-class venue purpose-built for ballet, contemporary and Chinese dance.
