HOTEL THE MITSUI HAKONE

HOTEL THE MITSUI HAKONE is Mitsui Fudosan's ultra-luxury hot spring resort on roughly 135,000 square meters of forested hillside at 450-1 Kowakudani in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, on land that once held the private villa retreats of the Mitsui family, a 3-story building with 126 hotel keys that broke ground in July 2024 and is set to finish in December 2026.

Designed by Nikken Sekkei with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg, the low-rise retreat plans 126 rooms, suites and villas ranging from about 45 to 240 square meters, every one with natural hot spring access, including garden rooms with private open-air onsen and a presidential suite. Restaurants, a spa and an all-inclusive program round out the second resort under the HOTEL THE MITSUI flagship brand, after HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, placing it among the most anticipated new luxury ryokan-style stays in the Hakone onsen valley near Mount Fuji.
