Jeddah Central is the Public Investment Fund's regeneration of central Jeddah's Red Sea frontage, run by Jeddah Central Development Company across about 5.7 million square metres between the historic Al Balad district and the Corniche. The plan strings 9.5 kilometres of waterfront, a 2.1 kilometre sandy beach, a superyacht-capable marina and a 100 metre-wide green promenade through six districts, and anchors them with four landmarks: the Jeddah Opera House by Henning Larsen, a 45,000-seat stadium by gmp, an oceanarium and a museum by Heatherwick Studio set in a decommissioned desalination plant. Around them come roughly 17,000 homes, about 2,700 hotel rooms including Mandarin Oriental, Atlantis and One&Only resorts, and retail, dining and parks. It is being built out in three phases, with Phase 1 covering about 45 percent of the site.
