Its facade reinterprets the rawashin, the carved wooden screens and balconies of historic Al Balad, as a layered lattice wrapping a compact 45,000-seat bowl under a roof that frames the sky, with shaded concourses opening to a surrounding sports park. China Railway Construction Corporation is building it with Sama Construction, and the venue is earmarked for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and as one of the host stadiums for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
