The scheme keeps the plant's chimneys and industrial bulk as a memory of the city's modern history: the cavernous turbine hall becomes the main exhibition space, the surrounding plant is reworked as a makers' souk of workshops, studios and retail, and new elements are wrapped in a reflective metal skin that catches the light of the Red Sea. Plazas, gardens and water edges tie it into the district's promenade.
