The Sanborn

The Sanborn is an eight-story private members' club planned for a 0.31-acre site at 100 NE 1st Avenue in downtown Boca Raton, directly beside Sanborn Square park, for which it is named. Designed by Boca Raton-based HdA Architects as a modern interpretation of Addison Mizner's Mediterranean Revival vocabulary, the 54,681-square-foot building rises from a limestone base with wood detailing, glass, and horizontal shade fins, with a glass corner at the street intersection and two levels of below-grade automated parking. Programming includes Formula 1 and golf simulators, a fourth-floor multipurpose room, a fifth floor with a wine cellar, speakeasy, card room, library and Asian fusion restaurant, a sixth floor with a bar, Italian restaurant and private dining room, mechanicals on the seventh, and a rooftop eighth level with an infinity pool and open-air bar; earlier marketing materials also describe a wellness spa, fitness club and eight hotel-style guest suites. Led by general partner Steven Newman and developer Scott Kerner through The Sanborn RE, LLC, which paid about $10 million for the site, the project won unanimous Planning and Zoning Board approval on October 6 with no variances requested and now advances to the City Council, with completion targeted for 2028.
