Tsukiji Redevelopment

The Tsukiji Redevelopment, branded One Park x One Town, is the roughly 900 billion yen transformation of the former Tsukiji fish market site in Tokyo's Chuo ward, a 19.5-hectare waterfront super-block on the Sumida River between Ginza and Hamarikyu Gardens. Selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government through a public proposal process, a consortium led by Mitsui Fudosan with Toyota Fudosan and Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings plans nine buildings organized around a large central park. Its centerpiece is a roughly 50,000-seat multipurpose indoor stadium that can reconfigure for baseball, rugby, soccer, basketball, esports and concerts. Around it the program layers luxury hotels, MICE and banquet facilities, a culinary center honoring Tsukiji's market heritage, a life-sciences and commercial hub, a theater and water-transport complex with a new pier for water buses, and residential and office towers, all tied into a transit gateway intended to serve subway, boat and future flying-car links. Conceived as a global-facing cultural and events destination, it is positioned as a new face of central Tokyo on one of the city's most storied waterfront sites.
