Official WebsiteBuffalo Bayou East extends the celebrated Buffalo Bayou Park model eastward into long-underserved neighborhoods, envisioning some 415 acres of open space stitched together by more than 36 miles of trails along the waterway. Its recreational heart is the expansion of Tony Marron Park from about 19 to nearly 40 acres, adding sports fields, nature play areas, public art, pavilions and festival venues. New pedestrian crossings — the Japhet Creek and Gregg Street bridges — knit the Fifth Ward and Greater East End to the waterfront alongside restored creeks and riverwalk trails. Designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, it stands as the largest single investment in Houston's east-side public realm, delivered in phases over years.
