Custom House

Custom House is a Grade I listed landmark on the north bank of the Thames in the City of London, being restored and converted into a 179 room luxury hotel. Jastar Capital, through its subsidiary Custom House City, is redeveloping the 212,000 sq ft early nineteenth century building with architect Orms and conservation specialists Richard Griffiths Architects, advised on planning by Montagu Evans. Long occupied by HM Revenue and Customs, the building is being reimagined with a spa and health centre, a collection of restaurants and bars, riverside terraces and one of the City's largest event venues. The scheme also opens the waterfront to the public for the first time, replacing a car park with 160 metres of new quayside the size of twelve tennis courts, and giving community and cultural groups access to the historic Long Room and Tidewaiters rooms.
