Foundry Park

Foundry Park is JDL Development's master-planned riverfront district on the former A. Finkl steel works in Chicago's Lincoln Park, the scaled-back successor to the abandoned Lincoln Yards scheme. Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture leads the master plan, with landscape work by Nudge Design, arranging low- and mid-rise residential, office and retail buildings around a central square and an extended Southport Avenue with protected bike lanes. About a quarter of the acreage is reserved as open space, including riverwalk access, a two-acre public square built for farmers markets and winter skating, and a boutique hotel flanked by residential towers. Roughly a fifth of the residences are set aside as affordable under the city's inclusionary requirements.
