Gajoen Tokyo, LXR Hotels & Resorts is the Tokyo debut of Hilton's LXR luxury collection and the brand's second address in Japan after Roku Kyoto, created through the reinvention of the landmark Hotel Gajoen Tokyo in the Meguro district of Tokyo, a short walk from Meguro Station and the cherry-lined Meguro River. Owned by Brookfield and operated by Hilton, the 60-key hotel is deliberately small for its footprint, with suites running beyond 100 square meters and a guest-to-space ratio that reads more like a private residence than a city hotel. The building, designed by Nikken Sekkei with Kajima, wraps a museum's worth of preserved craft into a working hotel: the Hyakudan Kaidan, or Hundred-Step Staircase, is a Tangible Cultural Property designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and painted panels, carved transoms and whole period rooms salvaged from the original 1930s complex are folded into the interiors. Guests get five dining destinations, a spa and fitness center, and roughly 5,700 square meters of meeting and event space, one of the larger banqueting programs attached to a luxury hotel in central Tokyo.
