The Orlando Dreamers, the local group leading Central Florida's push for Major League Baseball, have released conceptual renderings by Populous for a domed, 45,000-seat ballpark anchoring a mixed-use district on a 35.5-acre site in Orlando's tourism corridor, near SeaWorld and the Orange County Convention Center. The dome addresses Central Florida's summer heat and storm patterns, and the district is framed as a 365-day destination rather than a venue dark between homestands, with three hotel towers totaling roughly 1,000 rooms, Class-A office space, a museum attraction, a multipurpose events center, and space for restaurants and retail planned around the stadium. The Dreamers are asking Orange County's Tourist Development Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force to recommend $975 million toward the more than $2 billion project, funded through the county's 6% tax on hotel stays and short-term rentals rather than property taxes, presenting alongside four other applicants for the same pool of funds at task force meetings on August 5 and August 11, 2026, ahead of recommendations to the Orange County Commission. Backers cite an updated JLL economic impact study projecting about $32 million a year in tourist-tax revenue and more than $72 billion in economic impact over three decades, along with more than 52,000 permanent jobs, and say they have secured more than $1 billion in non-binding letters of intent for construction financing and a similar amount toward acquiring a team. Major League Baseball has signaled plans to add two expansion franchises and realign its divisions by the end of the decade, with formal city reviews not expected to begin before 2027; the Dreamers have also left open the possibility of landing a team through relocation.
