Sandcastle Resort at Lido Beach
The Sandcastle Resort at Lido Beach is being reimagined as a new Opal Collection resort on about 600 feet of Gulf beachfront at 1540 Benjamin Franklin Drive on Lido Key.
Official Website1540 Benjamin Franklin Drive, Sarasota. 10 floors and 304 hotel keys. Targeting 2027.
The plan replaces the original four-story Helmsley Sandcastle, first opened in 1953 and closed after hurricane damage, with a 304-room hotel in a nine-story south tower and a ten-story north tower, set over a shared parking and amenity podium on the 6.1-acre site, nearly doubling the old room count. Designed by Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates for Ocean Properties, the rebuilt resort is planned around refined coastal guest rooms, new food and beverage venues and direct access to the beach.
