260 East 72nd brings 60 two- to five-bedroom condominium residences to Lenox Hill, designed by Peter Pennoyer Architects in the spirit of the neighborhood's 1920s apartment houses. The facade pairs light brick with Indiana limestone trim, cornices and decorative metalwork. Stepped setbacks open to private terraces, loggias and Juliet balconies. A sculpted crown with ornamental grilles screens the mechanical bulkhead and gives the tower a finished silhouette on the skyline. The site assemblage absorbed the former Church of St. John the Martyr at 252 East 72nd Street. It is Sky Equity Group's first Manhattan condominium, with two retail storefronts at the base steps from the Second Avenue Subway at 72nd Street.
