338 Pitt Street

338 Pitt Street is a city-making proposal occupying close to half a block in Sydney's midtown, centred on two interconnected 80-storey towers rising about 257 metres, designed by an FJMT-led team. Rather than a single monolithic podium, the scheme breaks its base into six separate buildings, each handed to a different architecture practice so the street frontages read as a fine-grained piece of city rather than one developer's block. Those podium buildings carry retail and hotel uses, while the towers hold 592 apartments and 158 hotel rooms with their associated amenity. New through-site links and a public plaza cut pedestrian routes through what has long been an impermeable superblock, connecting Pitt and Castlereagh streets. The site and its approvals passed to Billbergia Group and Metrics Credit Partners, who lodged amended plans that drop the towers' linking skybridge and trim the hotel and retail components.
