Architectus and Ingenhoven Architects won an international design competition for the site over a shortlist that included SOM, Foster + Partners, Wilkinson Eyre, FJMT and Bates Smart, and the scheme is being delivered by Mirvac on behalf of landowner Coombes Property Group. The slender tower holds 507 apartments alongside luxury serviced suites and is crowned by a rooftop restaurant and bar, while a layered podium brings a boutique cinema, retail, conference facilities, two childcare centres and community meeting rooms for the City of Sydney down to street level. Environmental performance drives the design, which targets a 5 Star Green Star rating for both design and as-built performance and would be the tallest residential tower in the country to hold one. The address sits directly above Town Hall station and within a short walk of Darling Harbour, Chinatown and the Pitt Street retail core.
