601 N. Ashley Drive is a planned luxury mixed-use skyscraper on the downtown Tampa waterfront, directly across from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and the Tampa Riverwalk, where Naples-based Stock Development acquired the 0.97-acre former GTE Financial Building site and has cleared it for a new tower. Elevations prepared by Houston-based Ziegler Cooper depict a modern 48-story tower that would rank among the tallest buildings in Tampa, organized in three stacked sections: a podium with roughly 400 parking spaces, a luxury-branded hotel of about 240 rooms on the middle floors, and around 220 condominium residences crowning the upper levels. Hotel guests would share a resort-style pool deck, spa, ballrooms, meeting rooms, restaurants and outdoor terraces off a grand lobby, while residents receive a separate amenity program with their own pool deck, dog park and golf simulator. The project replaces the century-old GTE building, a Downtown Tampa landmark, and remains under review by the city's Design District Review Board.
