About the project

601 N. Ashley Drive is a planned luxury high-rise development on a 0.97-acre site at the corner of Tampa and Twiggs streets in downtown Tampa, directly across from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park along the Hillsborough River. The site is currently being cleared through active demolition of the 12-story former GTE Building — originally the Wallace S. Stovall Tampa Tribune building — including its basement, foundation, and adjacent surface parking lot. The site holds FAA height approval for a 540-foot tower (558 feet above mean sea level), the maximum envelope permitted at the location, and is planned to rise between 40 and 50 stories. The development is being designed as a luxury condominium tower with a hotel component, and the developer has signaled interest in a branded residential product that would shape both interior and exterior design. The project joins One Tampa, under construction directly across the street, and Pendry Residences Tampa, a half-mile south, as part of the wave of luxury residential development reshaping Tampa's downtown skyline. Final architect of record, unit count, and construction timeline have not yet been publicly released; the developer has indicated additional design and program details will come later in 2026.
