The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is transforming roughly four acres of its Victory Park campus in downtown Dallas, much of it currently surface parking, into an outdoor museum devoted to the forces of nature.

The plan adds 60,000 square feet of outdoor exhibition space, doubling the museum's exhibition footprint, with about 25 large-scale experiences including a towering fire tornado, a lightning and thunder pavilion, a giant water vortex, a geyser, a mist maze, a canyon landscape shaped by moving water, a paleontology garden built around a Tylosaurus and a public pollinator garden along River Street. The project also reimagines the arrival plaza, entrance and lobby, and adds dining, event and education space and an on-site parking garage. Morphosis, which designed the original museum building, is design architect, with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates as landscape architect, The Beck Group as architect of record, NorthernLight and Bruns as outdoor exhibit designers, Balfour Beatty as general contractor and Hillwood Urban as development manager. It is funded by Curiosity Unbound, a $185 million capital campaign.
