The Red Hat Amphitheater is being rebuilt one block south of its longtime home so the Raleigh Convention Center can expand into its footprint, trading a seasonal, demountable stage for a permanent open-air music venue. Designed by TVS with RATIO Design as architect of record and landscape architect, the new amphitheater grows capacity to more than 6,000 and adds a fixed stage house, improved sightlines, and upgraded artist and patron support spaces. The move keeps live music at the heart of downtown's emerging entertainment district, steps from the convention center, the Omni headquarters hotel, and the performing-arts campus. Conceived for both performers and audiences, the venue anchors the southern edge of Raleigh's core as a year-round events destination.
