800 2nd Avenue South
Echelon and Third Lake Partners are planning one of downtown St. Petersburg's largest residential developments at 800 2nd Avenue South, the former UPC Insurance headquarters that briefly served as the Tampa Bay Rays' temporary offices.
800 2nd Avenue South, St. Petersburg. 31 floors and 824 residences. Targeting 2029.
Designed by ARC3 Architecture, the $225 million project pairs two 31-story, 343-foot towers holding 824 apartments over a seven-story parking podium with about 1,550 spaces, for more than 1.7 million square feet in all, larger than the 46-story Residences at 400 Central. More than 30,000 square feet of retail lines the north side of the block, each tower gets its own lobby, and an amenity deck between the towers carries two resort-style pools, cabanas and fitness space. Shaded walkways and active ground floors are meant to knit the site into the EDGE District, across from the Historic Gas Plant redevelopment, and the towers would be the tallest buildings west of 5th Street. The former office building has been demolished and the site cleared, and the towers are planned to deliver in two phases.
