LXR Gold Coast brings Hilton's ultra-luxury LXR Hotels and Resorts collection to Australia for the first time, repositioning one of the coast's most recognisable addresses at 94 Sea World Drive on the Southport Spit in Main Beach. Developed with owner Islander Hotel Trading, the 200-room property occupies the palazzo-style landmark built as Palazzo Versace and trading latterly as The Imperial Hotel, a grand neoclassical composition of colonnades, pediments, marble and Italian-inspired interiors laid out low and wide around courtyards and pools rather than stacked into a tower. It sits directly on the Gold Coast Broadwater with its own marina frontage, and a comprehensive refurbishment will carry the building into the LXR collection, pairing the brand's personalised service and locally inspired storytelling with the design heritage that made it a landmark. The hotel is a short walk from the boutiques and restaurants of Marina Mirage and the Main Beach strip, with the ocean beaches of The Spit on one flank and the Broadwater parklands on the other, anchoring a stretch of coastline drawing a fresh wave of luxury hospitality investment.
