Wilson Tower

Wilson Tower is a proposed residential high-rise at 410 East 5th Street, on the northeast corner of Fifth and Trinity streets in Downtown Austin, Texas, developed by Austin-based Wilson Capital and designed by HKS. First unveiled as an 80-story, 1,035-foot supertall that would have been the tallest building in Texas, the design was cut to a 45-story tower of roughly 515 feet after Design Commission feedback and rising construction costs. The scaled-back plan calls for about 351 luxury rental apartments from studios to penthouses above a ground-floor lobby and retail, with structured parking in the podium and multiple amenity levels including a pool deck with food and beverage service, a fitness and wellness center, a resident cocktail lounge, a movie theater, coworking space and a floor dedicated to pets. The tower replaces the Avenue Lofts building, which has been cleared from the site, a short walk from the Sixth Street entertainment district and the Austin Convention Center. Wilson Capital has placed the project on hold, citing interest rates, construction costs and apartment oversupply in the Austin market.
