Carnegie Mellon University Miami is a planned 35-acre campus on the former Mana Wynwood site at 318 NW 23rd Street, the land assemblage Citadel founder Ken Griffin bought from Moishe Mana for roughly $1.1 billion in a sale that closed September 29, 2026. The campus is funded by Griffin's $3 billion gift to CMU, the largest individual gift in American higher education, of which $2 billion is directed to Miami and $1 billion to the Pittsburgh campus. Renderings show a multi-building, low- and mid-rise campus with mural-wrapped facades, green roofs and shared courtyards. CMU plans to enroll more than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students with roughly 300 faculty and 600 staff, organized around four areas: human health and biological discovery, national security and strategic capabilities, energy and climate resilience, and advanced manufacturing, with advanced computing across all four. Construction is expected to begin in 2027 with the first students arriving in 2028, subject to regulatory approvals.
