The Qianhai Museum is a monumental cultural landmark set against the hills of Shenzhen's Qianhai district and looking out over Qianhai Bay. Architect He Jingtang reinterprets the traditional Chinese motif of overlapping eaves as layered, tiered forms that throw natural shade while giving the 126,000-square-metre complex a distinctive silhouette. Inside, more than 30 exhibition halls span 40,000 square metres, staging inaugural shows drawn from over 3,000 relics ranging from ancient jade and porcelain to bronzes, Silk Road treasures, and Buddhist sculpture. A joint venture with the National Museum of China, it positions Qianhai as a heritage anchor within the Greater Bay Area.
