Shenzhen Natural History Museum

The Shenzhen Natural History Museum is a monumental cultural landmark spanning roughly 105,300 square meters on the shores of Yanzi Lake in Pingshan District, its fluid, ribbon-like form conceived by 3XN with B+H Architects and Zhubo Design to echo the movement of a river carving through the landscape. A continuous green roof and terraced public realm blur the boundary between building and park, drawing visitors up and over the structure while sheltering vast permanent and temporary galleries, an education center, research laboratories, and event spaces below. As one of China's largest natural history institutions, it pairs immersive exhibition halls devoted to the story of the natural world with waterfront gardens and civic plazas, anchoring an emerging cultural quarter in one of Shenzhen's fastest-growing districts.
