Hotel Lucile

Hotel Lucile is Casetta's adaptive reuse of the 1931 building at Griffith Park Boulevard and Lucile Avenue that began as Bethany Presbyterian Church, later housed East West Players and then a neighborhood antique market. Venice Beach studio Electric Bowery, led by Lucia Bartholomew and Cayley Lambur, preserved the stained glass, soaring arches and rooftop cross, placing a central bar beneath the former chapel's ceiling and carving 25 guest rooms — from Petit and Signature Kings to the 536-square-foot Lucile Suite — out of the original wing around a sun-filled courtyard, with original wood floors, steel-framed windows and Aesop bath amenities. At its center is Sous Sous, a restaurant from Executive Chef Patrick Costa pairing South of France cooking with the American South, alongside a beverage program from Lee Zaremba, a rooftop pool and deck, choir loft lounge and private Organ Room. A rotating art program developed with Rhett Baruch Gallery and Uprise Art, plus partnerships with Erewhon, Skylight Books and Usal Project, extend the hotel's ties to the neighborhood.
