The 2028 Games and a subway heading west

Los Angeles is not adding people: the city counted 3,869,089 residents in 2025, about 0.8% fewer than in 2020. New building follows a deadline instead. The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games have accelerated about $8.35 billion in infrastructure, and Metro opened three new D Line subway stations on Wilshire in May 2026, with Century City and Westwood still under construction.

Media and music anchor the new office space: Netflix leased the entire EPIC tower in Hollywood, Warner Music Group and Spotify moved into the Arts District, and law firm Goodwin is following Spotify to At Mateo. The Port of Los Angeles handled 10.2 million container units in 2025, the busiest U.S. port for a 26th year, and 49.5 million visitors came to Los Angeles.
