The Plaza Hotel
The Plaza is New York's most storied grand hotel, an 18-story chateau-style landmark by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh that rises over Grand Army Plaza at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Central Park South.
Official Website768 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. 18 floors, 181 residences and 282 hotel keys. Targeting 2031.
Owned by Qatar's Katara Hospitality and operated by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, the building holds 282 hotel rooms alongside 181 private condominium residences, plus the Palm Court and its famous ballrooms and event spaces. Fairmont has announced that the hotel, the Palm Court and the event rooms will close for an extended period so the white-brick and terracotta facade, its mansard roofs, copper-trimmed gables and corner turrets can be repaired and restored to meet landmark preservation requirements. The work is an exterior restoration of an existing building rather than a tear-down, and it is the most significant intervention at The Plaza since the 2005 to 2008 overhaul that converted much of the original hotel into private residences.
