  • Miami's cult-favorite, Pubbelly Sushi, opens in West Palm Beach

Downtown West Palm Beach’s dining scene just gained a bold new addition: Pubbelly Sushi has officially opened its doors on Clematis Street. This popular Miami-born sushi gastropub – known for its inventive Japanese-meets-Latin flavors – brings a fresh wave of culinary excitement to Clematis, a street already famous for its nightlife and restaurants. The arrival of Pubbelly Sushi adds another gem to West Palm Beach’s diverse culinary scene, giving local foodies a taste of a South Florida sensation without having to drive to Miami. Image of Pubbelly Sushi, Markets of Tomorrow Pubbelly Sushi first made a splash in 2010 when Chef José Mendín opened the original location in Miami Beach. His vision was simple: create a place where chefs (and, soon after, everyone else) could enjoy high-quality, affordable sushi in a cool, casual atmosphere. The concept quickly became a local favorite, even earning the 2020 Miami New Times Readers’ Choice Award for “Best Sushi.” Since then, Pubbelly has grown into a mini-empire with multiple South Florida locations. Before landing in Palm Beach County, the brand established outposts in Miami Beach, Brickell, Dadeland, Aventura, and Pembroke Pines. The new West Palm Beach restaurant marks Pubbelly’s first expansion this far north and is actually its seventh location. With additional openings planned in Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale, the brand continues to spread its influence across Florida. What sets Pubbelly Sushi apart is its hyper-creative fusion of Japanese and Latin cuisines. The restaurant is known for pushing boundaries and reimagining classic sushi rolls with unique twists. Signature items include the Butter Krab Roll, a decadent creation featuring crab wrapped in sesame soy paper, designed to be dunked in clarified butter and ponzu sauce. The Tuna Pizza offers a crispy base topped with fresh tuna, truffle oil, and spices, while the Short-Rib Dumplings bring an indulgent blend of Asian comfort food and Latin flair. Tostones con Ceviche, with crispy plantains and zesty fresh ceviche, highlight Pubbelly’s playful approach to fusion. Vegetarians and vegans can also enjoy creative plant-based dishes, ensuring the menu has something for everyone. The emphasis on shareable plates makes Pubbelly perfect for groups looking to sample a variety of bold, inventive flavors. Pubbelly Sushi has always been known for stylish, lively spaces, and the Clematis Street outpost is no different. Guests can expect a modern industrial-chic vibe, warm wood accents, colorful art, and an upbeat soundtrack. The space strikes a balance between trendy and welcoming, and a full bar with inventive cocktails adds to the energy.

  • Carbone, New York City and Miami-cult favorite, debuts in London

Carbone, one of New York’s most iconic restaurants, has officially arrived in London, marking a significant addition to the city’s luxury dining scene. The famed Italian-American eatery has opened its first European outpost in Mayfair, housed within the newly transformed Chancery Rosewood hotel on Grosvenor Square, once the U.S. Embassy. Bringing a slice of midcentury Manhattan glamour to one of London’s most exclusive neighborhoods, Carbone London has been highly anticipated by food lovers and the international jet set alike. Image of Carbone London, Douglas Friedman The Carbone story began in 2013 in New York City’s Greenwich Village, where chef Mario Carbone, along with partners Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick of Major Food Group, reimagined the classic mid-20th-century Italian-American restaurant. The original Carbone quickly became a sensation, recognized as one of the most celebrated Italian restaurants in the country and a quintessential New York dining experience. With tuxedo-clad waiters, tableside Caesar salad, and the now-famous spicy rigatoni vodka, the restaurant blended nostalgic charm with elevated cuisine and immediately attracted celebrities and tastemakers, cementing its status as a cultural phenomenon. Image of Carbone London, Douglas Friedman Following its success in New York, Carbone expanded into other influential markets, carefully building a global reputation for indulgent dining. Locations in Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Miami, and Dallas quickly followed, each one adapted to its local setting while staying true to the brand’s signature style. The Miami outpost in particular became a sensation, with its tropical twist on the original concept and a constant stream of high-profile guests. Today, Carbone’s footprint extends to the Middle East with restaurants in Doha and Riyadh, while Hong Kong introduced the brand to Asia. Dubai is next, with a new outpost planned for Atlantis The Royal, underscoring Major Food Group’s vision that every major city should have a Carbone. Image of Carbone London, Douglas Friedman Carbone London builds on this legacy with an expansive design that elevates the brand’s signature glamour for its Mayfair setting. Designed by Ken Fulk, the restaurant channels the legendary supper clubs of 1950s New York while adding British refinement. Guests enter through a private street-level entrance into a series of lavish spaces featuring vintage-style flooring, a zinc-topped bar, and a sweeping staircase adorned with a mural celebrating New York’s golden age. The dining areas, more than three times the size of the Greenwich Village original, are layered with rich mahogany, red velvet, burgundy leather banquettes, and curated art from names such as Julian Schnabel and Ai Weiwei. Private dining rooms feature Murano chandeliers, while the patio evokes the Riviera with striped umbrellas and rattan chairs. While the setting in London is distinctly grand, the heart of the Carbone experience remains familiar. Approximately 90 percent of the menu mirrors that of the other Carbones around the world, ensuring consistency across continents. Beloved dishes such as veal Parmesan, branzino al forno, and the famous spicy rigatoni vodka are served on retro-style crockery, and desserts are presented from a vintage trolley for a flourish of old-school hospitality. Service, delivered by tuxedo-clad captains with theatrical precision, matches the elevated yet playful energy that has defined the brand since its New York beginnings. Image of Carbone London, Douglas Friedman Beyond food and design, Carbone’s London debut represents a cultural moment. Over the past decade, Carbone has become more than a restaurant; it is a symbol of luxury hospitality and a lifestyle brand in its own right. Its growth has contributed to a global revival of Italian-American cuisine, inspiring imitators but remaining unmatched in cultural influence. For Major Food Group, the expansion has reinforced its reputation as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary dining. For travelers and locals alike, a reservation at Carbone is a badge of distinction, whether in New York, Miami, Hong Kong, or now London.

A sizzling lineup of 20 of Miami’s top chefs will compete in 10 head-to-head seafood showdowns, including Taco, Crab, Sushi, Surf N’ Turf, Salmon, Shrimp, Ceviche, Seafood Pasta, Tuna, and the Ultimate Champions Battle bringing back two South Florida legends to the stage for a CHAMPIONS ROUND of Battle Surf N’ Turf. Starting at 7 p.m. in the GOYA Culinary Village on the live stage at Lummus Park, each battle features two chefs going head-to-head in a live action competition. Chefs have 15 minutes to showcase their restaurant, prepare a full plated dish, and impress a panel of judges. Ticketed guests will visit each restaurant sampling station and sip, savor, and vote at each restaurant, ultimately helping decide the winner of each showdown with a people’s vote before the battle rounds hit the main stage for their LIVE Showdowns. This year also brings the “Tequila Herradura Bartender Showdown” , where four bartenders from South Florida’s favorite restaurants go head-to-head to create the ultimate cocktail with Herradura Silver, and the “ Pacifico Showdown” , where bartenders craft innovative cocktails using Pacifico Beer. Set against the pulse of a live DJ set, endless seafood bites, full bars, and interactive brand activations, the spirited beach bash keeps guests buzzing late into the night. The complete list of chef and bartender showdowns are announced below. The festival culminates on Saturday, Oct. 25, with the “Seafood Slam,”  brought to you by Tequila Herradura, presented by GOYA Foods, and hosted by the City of Miami Beach and Milam’s Markets, featuring an all-inclusive ticket format that gives attendees the ultimate experience with unlimited food and beverage tastings from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Guests will explore multiple seafood zones featuring more than 40 top new and returning local restaurants, sampling the finest coastal creations and voting for the Best of the Fest bites. In addition, the first-ever “SoBe Seafood Slam: Home Chef Challenge”  will take place on Saturday, live on the Milam’s Market Culinary Stage, giving local South Florida resident culinary enthusiasts and amateur chefs the chance to showcase their signature seafood dishes that are at-home favorites to festivalgoers and a panel of judges. Participants were asked to create and submit their signature seafood dish online with 2 finalists being selected at the end of September to compete on stage. Judged by acclaimed Miami Chef Mika Leon, the challenge will crown one grand prize winner who will receive a $500 Milam’s Markets gift card, a two-night stay at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, and the ultimate bragging right for a chance to have their recipe featured officially at everyone’s favorite family grocer locations, Milam’s Markets. The top three runners-up will each receive a Milam’s Markets gift card. The deadline to enter the challenge and submit a recipe online  is Sept. 30.  This year’s festival also expands its community partnerships with the Miami Beach Senior High Culinary Program, giving students a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world culinary experience through the festival beneficiary programming of EATSMART. Throughout the weekend, Beach High students will assist local restaurants at their sampling stations, helping prepare and serve dishes while showcasing their skills and professionalism to festival guests. On Saturday, the students take center stage in a Chef Showdown competition, High school edition, before the Milam’s Markets Home Chef Challenge, where teams will create and present their signature seafood dishes live on the Milam’s Market Culinary Stage. Guided by two executive chefs and with ingredients provided by Milam’s Markets, each team will be led by a student captain as they compete for top honors. This immersive experience not only highlights the talent and creativity of these young chefs, but also provides invaluable exposure to the hospitality industry, inspiring the next generation of culinary leaders. “Each year, the South Beach Seafood Festival continues to grow as a celebration of South Florida’s unmatched local culinary talent and vibrant beachside culture and the reason why so many locals and tourists come from near and fear to indulge in our destination,” said Valerie Roy, CMO at CI Management. “This year, we’re especially excited to debut new programming, giving guests even more ways to connect with their favorite South Florida restaurateurs and chefs. • Rooftop garden with rare dinosaur display planned in St. Pete

Ellison Development has unveiled an unexpected new idea for The Central in St. Petersburg’s Edge District : a nearly one-acre rooftop garden that would feature native landscaping and the display of a rare dinosaur skeleton. The centerpiece of the proposed garden is “Devaiah,” a 76-million-year-old Gorgosaurus skeleton enclosed in protective glass. The fossil predates the T. Rex by 10 million years and is one of only 20 specimens of its kind in existence—the only one held privately. The skeleton comes from the personal collection of Ellison Development co-founder Sidd Pagidipati, who named it after his father, Dr. Devaiah Pagidipati. “Let’s be honest, no one expects to find dinosaur fossils on top of a parking garage,” said Casey Ellison, CEO of Ellison Development. “That’s the fun of it. We love ideas that surprise people and spark their imagination, and this rooftop garden does exactly that. Where else can you take in city views, wander through a garden, and come face-to-face with fossils millions of years old? The Central isn’t just about new buildings. It’s about creating the kinds of experiences that make people say, ‘Only in St. Pete.’" Ellison Development drew inspiration from the popularity of Big John, the world’s largest triceratops on display at Tampa’s Glazer Children’s Museum. The developer envisions the St. Petersburg installation as both a cultural attraction and a community amenity, offering families and visitors a chance to experience science in an outdoor setting while adding new green space to the city. The Central is one of the largest mixed-use projects underway in downtown St. Petersburg. Anchored by Halcyon, the city’s first new trophy office tower in decades, the development also includes a 168-key Autograph Collection hotel, 42 units of workforce housing, 14,000 square feet of retail and public plaza space, and a permanent art installation by Ya La’ford honoring the Courageous Twelve. Ellison Development says more details about the rooftop garden and dinosaur display will be released as planning progresses.

  • The Residences at 400 Central unveils September update

St. Petersburg’s skyline is quickly transforming as 400 Central, the city’s highly anticipated luxury tower, continues its steady climb upward this September. Construction crews have now reached new vertical milestones, with the structure visibly taking shape as one of the tallest residential buildings on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The 46-story tower, designed by Arquitectonica and developed by Red Apple Real Estate, has risen 515 feet above Central Avenue, making it the tallest building in St. Petersburg and one of the tallest on the west coast of Florida. The pace of construction this fall underscores the project’s significance not just as a residential address, but as a landmark centerpiece of the city’s downtown resurgence. When complete, 400 Central will feature 301 condominium residences ranging from one- to four-bedroom layouts, alongside penthouse homes with sweeping views of Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Interiors are envisioned with floor-to-ceiling glass, modern finishes, and expansive terraces designed to maximize the surrounding skyline and waterfront panoramas. Rendering of The Residences at 400 Central Amenities are a core highlight of the project. Residents will enjoy a rooftop observatory on the 46th floor—the highest vantage point in the region—alongside a resort-style pool deck, state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center, multipurpose entertainment spaces, and on-site concierge services. The tower will also feature ground-level retail and dining, activating Central Avenue with a blend of public and private experiences. Rendering of The Residences at 400 Central Beyond luxury living, 400 Central represents a broader wave of investment reshaping St. Petersburg’s urban core. Its prominent location at Central Avenue and 4th Street situates residents within walking distance of cultural institutions, dining, and the city’s thriving waterfront. The tower is poised to become a defining part of St. Petersburg’s skyline, reflecting both architectural ambition and the city’s growing reputation as a premier destination for high-end living. Rendering of Volta Wine Market at 400 Central At street level, 400 Central will welcome Volta Wine Market, the project’s first announced retail tenant. Curated by a Michelin-starred sommelier, the concept will feature a wide selection of fine wines alongside a boutique market experience, blending everyday convenience with culinary sophistication. Positioned at the base of the tower, Volta will activate the corner of Central Avenue with a destination that serves both residents and the surrounding community, reinforcing the project’s role as a dynamic new hub in downtown St. Petersburg. As of September, the project’s progress is clearly visible to locals and visitors alike, with vertical construction steadily advancing floor by floor. Each stage brings the tower closer to its anticipated completion, reinforcing 400 Central’s position as one of the most significant real estate developments in Florida today.

  • Palm Cove Golf Club plans its debut for the 2025-26 season

Palm City has always had a quieter rhythm compared to its neighbors, and Palm Cove Golf Club leans into that character. Fresh off a comprehensive transformation, the club has re-established itself as a private golf destination that values community as much as it does quality golf. It’s the kind of place where you’re just as likely to run into neighbors after work as you are to share a tee box with celebrity YouTube golfers like BustaJack or golf legends like Martin Hall, who count themselves among Palm Cove’s members. Image of Palm Cove Golf Club The course itself has been reshaped to balance strategy with enjoyment. Firm, fast TifEagle greens reward precision, while wide landing areas framed by native palms, bamboo, and ornamental grasses create a calm, inviting backdrop. The design keeps play approachable and unhurried—ideal for golfers who appreciate thoughtful shot-making without the rigid pace found at more traditional clubs. Rendering of Palm Cove's Comfort Stations But Palm Cove is about more than golf alone. The experience is deliberately relaxed, with custom-built golf carts keeping the pace quick and the atmosphere fun, complete with built-in speakers and Wi-Fi coming soon. Across the course, brand-new comfort stations make mid-round breaks effortless, each stocked with cocktails, grills, snacks, and everything needed to keep the round lively. With a new restaurant opening for the 2025–2026 season that’s designed to serve as a true social hub—perfect for dinner, drinks on the veranda, or a post-round gathering. Just steps away, a custom four-faced Verdin Clock between the 9th green and 10th tee serves as a new landmark, tying together golf and community. Rendering of Palm Cove's Restaurant Practice facilities have been upgraded to match the course. Nearly 2,000 square feet of artificial turf hitting bays, complete with the latest technology and a dedicated instruction zone, give members every opportunity to fine-tune their game. A new three-hole par 3 loop adds even more variety — perfect for sharpening short-game skills, quick matches with friends, or family-friendly play. Whether working on fundamentals or enjoying a quick loop, the setup is designed to be flexible and fun. Rendering of Palm Cove's Restaurant Membership remains selective but welcoming. The initiation is now set at $90,000 , with an Executive Membership option available for golfers under 45. Palm Cove members also gain access to a reciprocal network of more than 850 signature courses worldwide, expanding opportunities for play while preserving the club’s close-knit, local feel. Image of Palm Cove Golf Club For locals, the message is clear: At Palm Cove, play moves at your pace. With no tee times required, members enjoy an unhurried round that feels relaxed yet refined. Palm Cove isn’t a buttoned-up, tucked-in-shirt kind of club. It’s a place built for golf and good times, where the atmosphere is as important as the course, and where members come together to enjoy the game—and each other—in a way that feels natural, inclusive, and distinctly Palm City.
